I love strolling through the North Star Suite’s fall garden!
There is something magical about a walk in a garden. They are a feast for the senses. Colourful flowers fill the air with their fragrance. Cool water tumbles softly over rocks. The sun warms your skin and for just a moment, the world feels peaceful.
Our family has been dreaming about our magical little hotel for a decade now — and working hard to make our crazy dream a reality for almost as long. In fact, we’ve had our heads down and working for so long it almost doesn’t seem real that we’re actually open now!
But, this spring we did finally open our first suite — the North Star — and it has been amazing to share our dream with our guests! Now of course, we don’t get to sit down and chat with them, but they have left such kind words in our guest book. It’s both heartwarming and energizing and I just wanted to thank them for visiting us.
We look forward to hosting them again — perhaps in our next suite: the Under Hill !
When we started talking about building out little hotel, Hailey and I would begin by discussing the big picture; how many rooms, what sort of themes would they have, etc. But we also talked about the details; what would the bathroom faucets look like, where would we store the ironing board… that sort of thing.
We were excited about everything! And one of the things we knew we wanted was for each suite to have a few games tucked away for our guests to enjoy if the mood strikes them.
The North Star’s games arrived today, just in time for our first guests!
The garden is swept, the kitchen is stocked, the towels are folded, and the bed is made.
Tomorrow we welcome our first guests.
